Proffile maps the research landscape of urban-focused faculty at the University of Chicago. We use AI embeddings to represent each professor's papers as points in space, then apply UMAP dimensionality reduction and clustering algorithms to group related work together. Cluster labels are generated by AI based on the content of the papers within each group.

This is a discovery tool — not a ranking or evaluation. It is intended to help students and faculty find papers and professors whose work might interest them. Cluster assignments reflect thematic proximity, not judgement of quality or relevance.
